Dafydd y Garreg Wen - 'British and Irish Bouquet' download album

* Download from David Keith Jones albums on Amazon or iTunes. ... David Owen the blind harpist and composer, lived near Porthmadog in Caernarfonshire in the 18th century. Y Garreg Wen (The White Rock) was the name of the farm near Morfa Bychan in which he lived. Tradition has it that as Owen lay dying aged only 29, he called for his harp and composed the haunting air. The words were added many years later by the poet John Ceiriog Hughes.
Dafydd is dying but wants to play one last tune on his harp. Can he reach the strings? He asks God to bless his family. Does he foresee how Cymru will change over the centuries? This arrangement was written for David by Paul Harris in 1971. David created this version as a trio of two voices and strong piano. A fine soprano who sang this with David was Joanne Brown of St Albans (Dubonnet Auvergne 70's ITV Commercial and singer in Richard Attenborough's 'Oh, what a lovely War').
