Behind the two coal wagons at the front of this train are 7 of KiwiRail's new IAC class wagons, which were built in New Zealand by KiwiRail's Hillside Engineering plant in Dunedin. The little hoppers mounted on these new wagons carry gold ore from Reefton to Palmerston, for Oceana Gold.
The new IAC class wagons can carry 56tonne, have a wheel handbrake (the older wagon fleet have a handbrake handle) and are fitted with an automatic-knuckle type coupler.
LOVE the sound of the Dx loading up!!!
