A team brought a slightly damaged 740 BMW to a $500 claiming race. What did they expect? I'm sure their insurance agent is going to notice that something has been tampered with. They were good sports and they continued to run the heap to the end of the race. I'm going to buy a BMW.

You just don't get it at all, AR86YZF. The driver is the one who destroyed it when he decided to cheat and bring such an expensive car to the race. You do realize the point is to have a car that costs $500 or less?

The whole point of the race is to bring a car worth $500 and have fun. If you bring a BMW 7 series it's obviously going to get claimed. Lots of other racing series uses a claim system to keep it fair but they crush it to go along with all the other fun madness of the event.

@bbourgeois87 they should. itd be funny as hell. i like racing, there are ass holes, but then there are a whole lot of good natured people who uphold sportsmanship. the 24hrs du lemons is the pinnacle of all of that, its hard to watch this race without smiling because it is somewhat farcical, but at the same time im riveted because i am impressed at seeing these old cars bring it to the table.

The whole system if oyu ask me is flawed. For example, the logical thing to do would be to always vote the fastest guy out so everyone places 1 spot better. And instead of builing the fastest car you can build, you build a car that looks really slow, and spend the first 12 hours sandbagging so you don't get voted out. Personally, sounds stupid. But I'm sure some others would enjoy this more than a real serious lo-cost enduro series.
