I am so very proud to say Mickey Newbury was my friend. Shortly before his death in 2002, Mick invited me up to his home in Oregon for his final gathering of friends. These four songs are his final public performance. He wasn't at his best...but it's still PURE Newbury.

  • Mickey continues to be the greatest influence on my music even though he's gone. His legacy will live for ever in the heartsw of his followers and admirers.

  • Thanks for this wonderful video. I was a singer in a duo back in the '70s, and my partner Sam introduced me to Mickey's music. We did "Apples Dipped in Candy", "Once You've Got'em (You've Always Got the blues)" and many more. I think he is one of the top 5 American contemporary songwriters. I was sorry to hear he passed so soon. Thanks to his family for keeping up the website.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Mikey Newbury on Hank Cochran's boat in Tn...with Barbara Cochran and some friends from Kansas at the time ...he love to to pick and sing!

  • He was one of a kind

  • Does anybody have Mickey singing "Apples Dipped In Candy'?

  • Love ALL your music ♥...You are and always will be my most favorite singer/songwriter and you are "responsible " for bringing two hearts together with this song..The Two Step Goes On.... You are always remembered this way ...even though you are gone...R.I.P.Mickey ♥~

  • RIP to a beautiful man who shared his beautiful soul with us all...through his beautiful gifts...writing, and performing, the true art of story telling. Love you, Mickey.

  • Hell; Mickey an' I have exactly the same 'eagle' tattoo!

  • Seeing Mickey in this video brings back a flood of memories of that wonderful night at the Florabama! I'll never forget Miss Mamie, his mother, in her red cowgirl outfit, the dark, crowded room filled with those of us who adored Mickey! And, of course, Mickey, who I miss so. He was such a special friend of mine. I miss him so and always will.

  • Mickey Newbury must have been a joy to have known.

  • Where ever he's gone and is now performing is where I want to be.
