Hmmm. Thanks for the info. I was aware that second order harmonics was an issue on flat plane V8's, but didn't consider that the stroke would have bearing on that. It is seeming less likely that this can be done on a reasonable budget with every piece of new information I gather. I had already considered improvising some type of balance shaft assembly. Maybe 180 degree headers would be the best option.

An accurate portrayal of a flat plane cranked V8.

Again, good work my friend.

Yeah!!! awesome work. Did you balance everything already?

What are the dimensions on the crank? I want to build a flat plane 4.6 and I figure if you have the dimensions it will save me a little time. Just trying to develop the idea and explore any issues I might have. I know I'll need the crank, custom cams, and a stand alone EMS.

I don't have the dimensions on hand currently. The dimensions I used were based off of the well established bore spacing that's known on these motors, and I used crank and rod specs from compatible parts on summit racing to get me close to what OEM should be. I wouldn't recommend all of these specs if you're really going to do it. If you're lowering the stroke you'll want a longer rod, and a smaller rod bearing on the crank. Look into performance honda rods. They're close to what you want.

The plan was to stick with stock spec rods and pistons. I was just hoping you had the dimensions of the crank on hand, since one would obviously have to be custom machined in the 180 degree configuration, but with the same journal diameters, bore spacing, stroke, journal width, snout length and diameter, oil pump flat dimensions, etc.

I hope you're aware that with a stock stroke that motor is going to have insane second order harmonic vibration. With what you're going to spec getting a crank machined I suggest spending a few dollors on good rods and pistons, and reducing the stroke to at least 2.75" if not lower.
