This was a specially arranged full gig which was recorded by Granada TV, of which 4 songs have only ever been broadcast on the So it Goes shows. Johnny Green (p31) also mentions the gig for the Granada TV's So it Goes programme.

Granada TV also filmed the support act Soiuxie and the Banshees and a couple of minutes of their footage exists also.

The original broadcast dates were mid December 1977 when the first two songs were broadcast, and a year later, December 1978 when the latter two were shown.

It is suggested that...

"I seem to remember someone telling me years ago, when ch4 held its punk night and broadcast the punk doc that was composed of footage from so it goes, that Granada had taped over all the original footage that they had, and the program was compiled from Tony Wilsons personal video collection of the broadcast programs (This is also mentioned in the doc when a Blondie track is played, the quality is poor due to tape deteriation). All 4 clash track that were originally broadcast in 77 & 78 from Manchester were included in the doc along with the Siouxsie footage from when they were support. "

  • Music will never be this passionate again.

  • where the socialists at?

  • Paul matched his shirt and socks. He's just impossibly cool.

  • Strummer always looked like he`d swallowed 5 kilos of speed. which he probably had...

  • @tindaloot If you saw them on the 16 Tons tour, than you saw them in 1980.

  • has mick got spare picks under his pickguard?

  • Saw them on their "16 Tons" tour in Birmingham can't remember the year tho ! Ace

  • yes,yes,YES.
