The Latino population is now so large, its trajectory of growth so rapid and its contrast in relative age to that of the general population so stark, that it will not be possible for the United States to advance without substantial, and so far unimagined, gains for the nation's Latino community. The Census Bureau's mid-range estimates for 2050 assert that the nation's Latino population will grow by 63 million people or a stunning 48% of total U.S. growth, and that Latinos will constitute 25% of the United States population in 2050.
Henry Cisneros and Arte Pblico Press of the University of Houston celebrate the launch of their new book, Latinos and the Nation's Future and take part in an engaging debate on what Latino growth means for our country, and what the next administration needs to do about it. Latinos and the Nation's Future is a landmark collection of essays by leading Latino figures such as Raul Yzaguirre, Lionel Sosa and Aida Alvarez, among others, about the most pressing issues facing Latinos today and how the future of the nation is inextricably linked to that of the Hispanic community.

  • Just 2 years later an Obama turned out to be a complete FAILURE!...

  • @jbillycrack You were troolin? Did you mean trolling? I did not go to Wikipedia for my knowledge. I am Hispanic and I know about Hispanicity, unlike most young Hispanic people born and raised in the U.S. thinking that Hispanic is a race. If you go to Latin America, you will never hear of a "race" called Hispanic. It does not exist. Latino just means Latin American. In Latin America, you are either Mestizo, White, Black, Mulato, Zambo, Pardo, Castizo, Asian, Native American or Arab.

  • @IslenoGutierrez wow i was clearly troolin and good job for lookin at all this dumb shit on wikipedia because most of us Hispanics, Latino, or whatever you wanna call us are so mixed up that we dont even know what we are if you wanna be so specific then we are all African since humans started there and stop seperating people by putting them in a category thats part of the problem we are all humans not some subspecies, you dont see dogs fighting other dogs because they are different

  • @jbillycrack Who are you calling a terrorist? I don't speak Arabic either, I'm not Arab. I am a White Hispanic. I speak Spanish and English. How are you a real American? Because you are Mestizo? Mestizos are half Native American and half European, so how does that make you a real American? Were you born in the U.S.? Then that would make you a North American, not a Latin American. Latin Americans are from Latin America, not the U.S.. Clarify what you mean.

  • @jbillycrack Your comments are not fact. White people are not trying to kill Latinos. Also, remember, since Latino is not a race, Latinos can also be White. By saying Latino you must mean Mestizos. A couple of isolated incidents doesn't speak volumes for the entire group of people as a whole. So, your comment was not fact but opinion. The added racism of calling Whites the "name of Satan" doesn't help either. You seem to be the racist here. I'm Hispanic telling you this. I'm a White Hispanic.

  • @Americcan The U.S. traditionally hasn't seen Latinos as White either. There were Mexicans present in the beginning of the U.S., and they were Mestizos and Amerindians. The only large scale White Latinos in the U.S. are the Cubans in Florida, but there are some Argentinians here and there. Most Puerto Ricans on the island are White, but most in the states are mixed race. But this day and age, U.S. society looks at Hispanics to be non-White brown people, because most U.S. Latinos are Mestizos.

  • @IslenoGutierrez my comments are all facts and whites guys try to kill me all the time here in Kentucky when i take out their daughters, and i don't speak Arabic you terrorist trying to seperate us real americans

  • @IslenoGutierrez

"The US" hasn't traditionally seen Latinos as a different race, hence the fact that it has never been against the law to marry. Caucasian is a broad racial group. Only recently as militant latinos (mostly Mexican Americans and Mexicans) in the US (legal and illegal) have taken to identifying as non"white" and more recently "indigenous". Cubans and Puerto Ricans usually identify as "white" or "black". My point was merely that the US Census uses "hispanic" nonracially.

  • @jbillycrack Your comment is racist. White people don't want to kill you. You seem to be the one with the problem against the White people. You are making Latinos look bad with comments like the one you posted. Oye, sabes lo que estoy diciendo? Me entiendes?

  • @98bigbutt Also chica, remember some Latinos are White people. I'm sure you are from the U.S. because you see "Latino" as a non-White people. In Latin America, Latinos are anyone from Latin America including the White people, Black People, Native Americans, Asians, Mestizos, Mulatos, even Arabs. The most common types of Latinos are Mestizo, then White, then Black and Mulato, then Native American, then Asian, then Arab. The most common type of Latino in the U.S. is Mestizo. Otra vez, saludos.
