It is easy. The secret to successful flat ironing is to hydrate with spray prior to iron. Use hot iron. Clip up top coat, start on lower coat. Work a small amount of coat at a time. Never bring the iron where it will touch the skin. You may check at your beauty supply as they make irons that are smaller than the one generally used for humans and they allow you to get in tighter areas. Practice on your wife, sister, etc. Then do your pet :)

99% of dogs that are groomed regularly look forward to the very relaxing event. Imagine yourself at the beauty salon how relaxing it can be. The dogs that do not enjoy grooming are those that have not experienced pure care regularly. Clumps of knots all around does not sound comfortable. It's like lying on rocks. If you are unable to maintain your pet from having clumps (mats) you would be doing them a favor by having them shaved and starting over. Youngsters need training. :)

OMG the dog is so beautiful, hope to be as good as the groomer xD (I'm dreaming)

And people, stop saying "poor little thing" he's not poor at all, if you want your dog with long hair, it takes a lot of work and sometimes pets owner are not aware that a dog without a bath and a cut is a poor dog. Like human hair ,you have to wash it and brush it, that' the same thing with your dog. And beside, Shih-tzu does have HAIR like human =)

@amykebabz the furnishings makes the dog's hair to have lesser tangles and if your dog is a showdog they need ponytails &often they need elastic bands,since the hair of shih tzus that has long hair and easy to break they need furnishings on their hair if you have shih tzu thats not for dogshows you can always tell the groomer trim them bit short ,i got 8 shih tzus but not for dogshows they also got long hair i braid them to lessen tangles and easy to brush before and after bath be safe :)

@macpixi hi this sensual coco .. thank you for the info :) i changed account btw:) i give my girl biotin shampoo she has thicker hair now im mixing her 8%hypoallergenic shampoo and 2% biotin shampoo and i always brush her hair 3x a day :) thank you:)

@SensualCoconuts07 A shih tzu's coat takes atleast 12 months to fully grow full length again but since it's been over 12 months for you how long is it the coat approx? You may need to do some research on your dogs diet sometimes it's the dogs diet that plays a large part in the condition of their coat. Or try out some different shampoos and get a really good pin brush and detangling comb don't use the cheap ones, they will rip the coat out. Hope this helps :)

Do I have to do all this process including flat ironing if my show dog wont show that week anyway? If not what will be her regular grooming when she is at home? I'm new in this. ;) Any advice will be great! Thank you!
