Not sure, but this might be an Edison film. His company made a lot of them back then to promote the infant film industry.

That is the fire engine, a steam driven water pumper. that is what delivers the high pressure water to put out the fire. They were replaced, as all horse drawn fire engines by motorized fire trucks by the 1930's in most of the USA.

Jacob, back when this film was made, most of what burned was wood and fabric related. Firefighters still died from smoke inhalation. Now, we have all these man made materials that when burned produce toxic fumes that can kill much faster, there is so much plastic in a dumpster that it is like a nerve gas attack if breathing in close. Firefighters now live longer because of the protective gear we wear and use.
