Ummm, no one's planning power project on every mile of every river in BC. Besides, run of the river projects could be run on river sections that can't be run by kayaks, if that's what your objection is.
Nimby? as a white water kayaker all of my play grounds are at risk! Not just one or 2 but all of them! Tell me what you love, I will threaten every facility where you do that and then tell me ow it feels!
First of all who cares who ownes it what the water way was called and what material they build the towers out of, they have detsroyed a river that belongs to the public, they have destroyed a habitat for hundreds of species, and mowed down kilo meters and kilo meters of old growth forest that was also home to hundreds of species as well as what was contain a great deal of our carbon
1, no towers were put up.... only cedar poles. 2, its ashlu creek? i would assume that all the companies there didnt have the wrong name and call it that and not a river. 3, Ledcor does NOT own this IPP. they are a general contracting company... really should do some research please.
Cutting the Gst by 1% was worse than merely useless as BC just raised taxes 5%. So we went 1% back on GST and 5% forward on PST to make up for the shortfall from the FEDS. That's what I call worse than merely useless.
Harper accomplished zilch, except keep his promise on one side of his mouth knowing that cutback to the Provinces would cause the Provinces to make up for the cutback by increasing PST thereby placing the tax blame on others
I'm a usually a Green Party kinda guy, but this is just such a poor issue to pursue - at least the way it's being done in this video. What's the goal of all this hoopla? Where are the facts? Where's the comparison to other power projects/power sources? These people just look like whiny NIMBY types.
I have no problem with better environmental oversight, but what's so wrong about private power development? After all, forestry and mining are privately developed on (mostly) public land. Food, the most important of commodities, is all privately produced and I don't see anyone raising a fuss about that. The only reason to keep power production public is for very large scale projects where a competitive market can't exist.

As Globe and Mail reporter Mark Hume said, "Green power? Hardly. The ancient Chinese had a better term for it. Death by a thousand cuts."
