I wish|| A Niley ONESHOT

I sucked in a breath and wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans, I walked down the dusty path, a path that was once so familiar. I stopped by the door and raised my hand to knock on the old oak door... I paused in hesitation and rubbed the back of my neck, what am I supposed to say? Oh hey Miley, just stopped by to say Im sorry I broke your heart, I still love you, so what do you say? Im sure thatd go down well... The door opened then and there she stood looking as beautiful as ever.
'Nick?' she looked puzzled 'what are you doing here?'
'Oh. I just..' I sighed. Where do I start?
'Nick, can you make this quick? Liams waiting and-'
I pressed my lips together with a nod 'Liam. so the rumours are true?'
she sighed and raked her fingers through her hair 'Nick, did you expect me to remain single forever?'
I shook my head 'not forever. Just long enough for me to tell you how I feel'
she shook her head 'why now?'
'because I love you more than anything else in the world... And Im here on my knees' I knelt down 'begging for another chance... before its too late'
her eyes grew misty and she sniffled slightly 'Im sorry Nick. Its already too late' she pressed her lips together and shoved past me getting into her car and speeding away. I slumped against her door pulling a piece of paper out of my journal and leaning on the cover as I wrote the words directly from my heart:

Miley,
I want you to know that this is really hard for me to say, but I just think its what you need to know before I disappear from your life for the last time
Its my 11:11 wish.
Its for you.
I wish you get everything you ever wanted, you deserve that and so much more. I wish you strength when life gets hard. I wish with all my heart you find what youre looking for. I wish you happiness and a lifetime of peace. I wish that every star you see is within your reach.
...And I wish you still loved me

And lastly, I want you to know that a part of me will be with you no matter where you are

I folded the letter and pressed it to my lips before posting it. I stood up then with a sigh and started my seven hour journey back. Knowing I was leaving behind the only girl Id ever loved killed me inside but I held it together, until I reached my car and took the remainder of my heart back to Dallas with me. I got there and noticed there was a piece of paper taped to the door, confused I pulled it off and unfolded it to read five simple words, words that made me smile even now:

Some wishes do come true x

I smiled and brought the paper up to my nose, inhaling deeply. The scent of her perfume caressing my nostrils. Shed not long left this. I reached for the door handle but the door opened before I reached it. My eyes widened in shock. Miley was here. I had no time to do anything before she pulled me into a hug and began sobbing, she pulled away a few minutes later, wiping her eyes and began to explain
'After reading that I realised that what I was looking for was you. It was always you. I just never realised it before. I almost let you slip away too... I never moved on. Me and Liam was just a publicity thing -I never stopped loving you Nick, thats why it hurt so much to hear you say the same, because of how long I'd been waiting'
I nodded 'I just never had the guts to say anything sooner' she smiled
'its okay. But you know what I wish?' I returned the smile
'what?'
'I wish we could forget about this mess and go back to how we were'
I grinned 'I think we can do that'
she giggled 'good. I wish you'd kiss me too'
I slowly leaned in until my lips connected with hers in the most passionate, heartfelt kiss either of us had ever experienced.
