Anna Nemeth and friends (Aron Zoltan and Lili) gave a great performance and show of the types and music of Hungarian Bagpipes. The first set of tunes/songs are from the Southern Plain (Dél-Alföld, Csongrád) region played on a bellows-blown set with chanter stock with the shape of woman/girl head/face. The drone of this set is folded and short. Then they played songs from the Northern (Nógrád) region learned from István Pál (the last shepherd piper in Hungary). This bagpipe set is mouth-blown and has the typical goat head shaped chanter stock and a straight drone hanging downwards. Lastly they played songs from the Southwestern (Somogy) region on bellows-blown set a three-reed chanter and drone over the shoulder. The two bellows of the first and third sets are quite different. This shows the rich cultural heritage and diversity of the Hungarian folk music. Here all the sets are in the key/pitch of A. Traditionally, however, the pitches could be quite diffrent starting from around F, F#, G, G# up to to A, Bb, B.
