  • phyllis hyman's song you know how to love me. reminds me of marie

  • o.k. let's get facts straight. Teena wasn't the first white singer on Motown. However, Teena was the first succesful white singer. All of her songs always charted on the r&b charts. Her only pop chart hit was Lovergirl in 1984. So although Teena wasn't the first white person signed to Motown she was the most popular and best selling white artist for the motown to this day!! Rip Teena was one of a kind and nobody will every sound like her or have her style. Love you Lady T always!!

  • chris clark was the first white women signed to motown.

  • I don't think Don really remembers. He probably read a lot.

  • @AESOPPOSEA1 thats not even funny

  • I hadn't seen CNN's report on Teena Marie. I recall jumping out of bed when soooo many calls came thru about her passing. I didnt have a TV in the room so I ran to my sister's room where her and her husband were and forced them to change to CNN because I just knew she would be onl I recall my brother law asking my sister, "Why does she think Teena's death would hit CNN?" Yeah. She was all that, that's why, bro-in-law...She was amazing and so worthy and 'unsung'.

  • I remembered it was late at night when I saw on yahoo that she passed. I'm still in shock. RIP

  • You are so right, she did not cross over she started that way!

  • @MisterAAB1 - Actually even the tone-deaf can record, cause nowadays we have "Pitch-control" So, ur right, that "Lady T" came on the scene when u had to have talent to make it. And that she did, not only was she an amazing vocalist, but she played several instruments, produced and wrote her music. She was a huge inspiratiion for me. She will really be missed. RIP Teena Marie
