Why does it have to be Chris VS The Strokes? It's a great song, performed by two great talents. This is a brilliant cover, but the original is great as well. You can't say one is better than the other when they're two totally different genres. Stop arguing, and give both the props they deserve.

I love hearing someone of this talent doing a great job of covering a very different song that I also love. It's one of my favourite Strokes songs, and it shows there's always something else to be done with a song. I thought nobody could cover Stairway to Heaven well, but dammit, Rodrigo y Gabriela's version is amazing.

When someone covers a song, it's because they love the song so much, they want the experience of playing it. What Thile has taught me through his many covers is that a song is not always finished when it's originally cut, there's always another perspective, another angle to be found; whether it's "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" or "Heart in a Cage", Thile is always finding and presenting another side to a song that further clarifies the abstract set out by the songwriter.
