This folkloric-inspired dance mixes American-style Cabaret with elements of Turkish Karsilama. Music is from an old Turkish folksong called "Çadırımın üstüne" (Rain is dripping on my tent). Among bellydancers it's better known as "Rompi Rompi" featuring the upbeat 9/8 rhythm, counted as 12-34-56-789.
Bellydancer Mariah of Ohio is of Greek and Italian heritage. Since childhood she has always studied various styles of dance, including Belly Dance. Her formal Belly Dance training began in 1991 with Habeeba and many other famous teachers worldwide. Lead Instructor for Habeeba's Dance of the Arts in Columbus, Ohio from 1997 - 2007.
