Patient-Centered Medical Home: Amerigroup Tennessee

Helping primary care practices become medical homes: Dr. Carolyn Lightford and her husband Dr. Melvin Lightford have a primary care practice that serves Medicaid members. Dr. Bill Runyon, an Amerigroup medical director, provided them with the advice, knowledge and tools to become a true medical home. By helping the Lightfords implement this program, we have helped them dramatically increase their quality performance, improve their ability to control medical costs and reduce unnecessary emergency room use. In addition, our members are getting higher-quality health care.
