and why The Who never toured it to the same extent or success as Tommy. The machines that played the tracks broke down and jammed so reguarly, and they meant there was no room for the band to improvise a la Live at Leeds. I think the guy who's job it was to operate/maintain the tape machines got a guitar thrown at him by Pete when the machine broke down one time
