The 1986 World Series is remembered because of the memorable plays as well as the colorful Mets stars such as Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Keith Hernandez, and Lenny Dykstra. Wally Backman was perhaps the most understated of the baseball players, but recently he has battled some controversy.
