I think the whole point, or at least the perception of the American people, is that greedy executives of bad companies who made bad decisions and who should go out of business on a free market DON'T DESERVE their salaries and especially severance packages if their companies fail. This company went bankrupt, but we still have to pay it's CEO a severance package. I think most people think there's something fundamentally wrong with that idea.
