The Darrell Gwynn Foundation, on behalf of its donors, supporters, donated a $20,000 power wheelchair to Spencer Blomquist, a 23 year-old NASCAR fan and native of Cantonment, Fla. at its annual Hot Rods & Reels Charity Fishing Tournament with NASCAR Drivers on Lake Lloyd at the Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 24. The Darrell Gwynn Foundation's mission is the provide SUPPORT for people with paralysis and PREVENT spinal cord injuries.

Blomquist was a victim of a car robbery two years ago and sustained a spinal cord injury from a gunshot wound in the incident. He was denied by his health insurance the proper power wheelchair he needed. With the gift of mobility he received from the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, Spencer will be able to complete his education at Pensacola State University and pursue a career. The wheelchair donation was made through the Darrell Gwynn Foundation's national Wheelchair Donation Program. NASCAR Legend Donnie Allison defended his title from 2011 by winning the 2012 Hot Rods & Reels Charity Fishing Tournament with NASCAR Drivers. Allison's team of Robert Clarke, Sr., Robert Clarke, Jr. and David Driggers captured the tournament championship by accumulating a three-bass weigh-in total of 15.26lbs. Allison also caught the biggest fish in the event reeling in a lunker 6.91lbs. largemouth bass.

This year's Hot Rods & Reels Charity Fishing Tournament with NASCAR Drivers featured three Daytona 500 Champions. The race winners that participated in the event included defending Daytona 500 Champion Trevor Bayne, along with Daytona 500 winners Ryan Newman and Jamie McMurray. Other drivers and celebrities that also participated included: Joe Nemecheck, Regan Smith, Clint Bowyer, Joey Coulter, Donnie Allison, Bobby Labonte, Martin Truex, Austin Dillon, Aric Almirola, David Ragan, Michael McDowell.

The charity fishing tournament pairs NASCAR Drivers with donors and supporters for a fun day of fishing benefiting the Darrell Gwynn Foundation.
