Very nice voices, especially the tenor. There´s only one thing... too much drama and old fashion movement from the tenor. A little more realistic wouldn´t hurt.

Thanks as always, Coloraturafan, for your outstanding uploads. This singing is what opera is all about....emotion, emotion, emotion. Not the bland, humdrum, singing too evident in today's opera world....but the passion and gut-feeling that Donizetti intended his music to portray. Kudos to these two great artists!

Hey Coloraturafan, when was this?

Bravo Bezdüz

I can confirm that she sang "Era desso" in her 1987 Montpellier premiere because I'm listening to it right now. I managed to track it down recently. I'll upload it the next time I get the chance.

I enjoy to see it.Thanks for the information about lucrezia. I would like to see also Orsini and the Gennaro duet. Do you have it? Best

I am very greatful , thank you for posting !
Beautiful performance !
Don't know about her first Lucrezia in Montpellier in 1987, but in Washington (1990), Amsterdam (1991), Sydney (1995), and London (Chelsea Opera Group, 2003), she always sang "Era desso"--spectacularly. In the Marseille production (2002), the conductor insisted on omitting it.

Thank you, shows how little I know... I do remember an audio recording with Miricioiu with this same ending.. but I don't remember the details about it.

The singing here is good but I can't stop laughing at the sinking table.
A Lucrezia Borgia without the riveting final cabaletta leaves much to be desired. I know this is how Donizetti originally intended it but the revised ending is far superior.
Do you have video or audio of Nelly Miricioiu singing "Era Desso" elsewhere?

No, I don't think Miricioiu ever used the edition with the Era Desso cabaletta. I could be wrong. The cabaletta was included for the soprano Henriette Méric-Lalande. Donizetti then cut the aria from the score for the 1840 La Scala production, thinking it was dramatically incongruous for a mother to sing a brilliant aria over a son whose death she has, albeit unwittingly, caused.
