PLEASE SEE MY PHOTO ALBUM, SHOWING THE NOW FULLY COMPLETE IMPROVEMENTS WE DID SINCE PURCHASE (ALL TO ORIGINAL STANDARD)
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=37165&id=1072977488&l=8c131a694d
THIS IS THE LATEST ADDITION TO OUR CLASSIC CARS. IT IS A 4 DOOR 1958 FORD PREFECT 100E IN WESTMINSTER BLUE (NOT WINCHESTER BLUE AS I STATED VERBALY). THE ENGINE SIZE IS 1172cc. IT IS A GENUINE 27,000 MILES FROM NEW. THIS CAR WAS IN STORAGE FOR 20 YEARS, AND AT A SEPARATE TIME FOR ANOTHER 10 YEARS. IT HAS JUST HAD A RESPRAY IN IT'S ORIGINAL COLOUR. THE PREFECT IS IN ALMOST PERFECT CONDITION, AND WE JUST HAVE A FEW SMALL BITS TO DO TO FINISH IT OFF. IT HAS 3 GEARS AND A 'PULL' STARTER KNOB. THIS CAR WILL BE FINISHED OFF TO THE EXACT ORIGINAL SPECIFICATION. NO IT IS NOT FOR SALE, AND NO WE WILL NOT CUSTOMISE OR MESS WITH IT IN ANY WAY. I INTEND TO USE IT MYSELF AS A MORE PRACTICAL EVERY DAY CAR, AS IT IS AN IDEAL LADIES CLASSIC CAR. YES I KNOW OUR GIANT FINS N CHROME 1961 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER IS A LOT MORE EXCITING, BUT IT ONLY DOES 10 MPG AND TAKES UP A LOT MORE ROOM. THIS CAR LIVES IN ESSEX, ENGLAND. FILMED BY RUTHIE ON 26TH SEPTEMBER 2009.......UPDATE IN SPRING OF 2010.....THE CAR HAS NOW BEEN FINISHED OF IN FINE DETAIL, WITH EVERYTHING NOW LOOKING PERFECT !

  • Decent cars with dreadful engines, I was glad when mine blew up and I fitted a Cortina 1200

  • @57silver We are lucky enough to own lots of classic vehicles, and so don't rely on this one for long journeys. It has only done 30.000 miles since new and the engine still has lots of life in it. My other half restores classic vehicles for a living and likes to keep all of ours original. He said that his parents took 4 of them + lots of luggage to cornwall every year on holiday from London in the 1960s without any problems. My Mum also owned a prefect for years without problems in the 60s.

  • A gorgeous wee car, and all the better for her originality. Enjoy!

  • @ThemightymacDiesel Thanks a lot for your nice comments. The photo album link on my video show all the improvements we made (to original standard).

  • i have a 1959 100e same colour only 8000 miles gen !!

  • @ncldarren Wow, how lucky you are to find one with such low mileage. Please make a video to show us, or at least send a link to some photos of your own 'twin' Prefect. My photo album link shows our own improvements, all done to original standard of course.

  • PonytailRuth, does that have the side valve or the OHV engine.

  • @cubbiefn Cubbie, some early US cars har the steering wheel on the right hand side ,some on the left and some even had it in the middle.Took them years to make up their mind. This is from a Limey living in Ohio.

  • @PonytailRuth

Mine only had to travel 10 miles to work every day , so the novelty of that 3 speed box soon wear off. I tend to use my classics on a regular basis and you soon get fed up of the traits that seem fun when they are just toys, hence I now drive a Morris Minor with a 1275, no problems at all. Mind you ,its nowhere near as nice condition as yours and will never win any trinkets, but then again neither did my Studebaker

  • An amazing car you have!

  • They put the steering wheel on the wrong side.

    From,

    Another Bloody American.

  • its good, i need a lots of job at my 101E, your car is blue, and my car is rust and the floor with ventilation, flintstones car. goood , good, congratulations

  • Can i be really cheeky and inquire in as to how much you paid for this stunning little prefect?
