@mojo84th You can only count lost work hours if the he could actually have worked instead of doing this job. So if what you are saying is true... I could do the work for this guy for $500 and he would be saving $100 by watching me do it? Due-ing your math means sleeping is a very expensive habit, as is watching TV, surfing the internet, going to the mall, playing with your kids... And I assume you have a cleaning lady who works for $10 an hour? Saving you HALF the cost of your time to clean.

Shit, I would have done it for 2,000. Saving of 900. Also, if the owners time is valuable like most people. His time must be accounted for, so 3 -10 hr days at 20 dollars hr. minimal, which adds 600. to the 2300. Due the math. $2900. actual cost

i been doing tile 4 a log time shit i make good money i recommend every one to try to do it
The right way to do it? EEK!
Nothing about that tile installation was even remotely close to being "right".
Read the manufacturer's instructions for the Durock cement board they used. Nowhere does it say, construction adhesive is the "right" way to install their cement board.
Furthermore, cement board installed directly over a plank subfloor is a no no. They should have installed a layer of plywood minimum 3/8", preferably 1/2" or better.

Thinset is used to fill the voids in the floor as wood has high and low spots. It is not used as a method to adhere the board to the floor. Construction adhesive as a substitute for thinset is bad.
