I used to work at the Roadway Express facility, on the other side of the overpass and used to watch these trains moving into the hump yard, all the time. It is even more majestic in-person, than on YouTube, but it's still awesome to see it here :)

Yep, we drove up and we were parked right infront of the hump.

@2caps West Colton is the largest UP yard in Socal. It hosts traffic to the east coast cities such as New Orleans going out on the Sunset Route, and the Los Angeles -Salt Lake trains are classified for North Platte, NE Bailey Yard. West Colton also classifies it cars for Northern California and Oregon. Such cities would be Sacramento - Roseville Yard. Hope this helps.

@interstateruler Trains Magazine has a really nice article about this in the July 2010 Issue. It includes a fold-out Map of the yard.

I will put out a part 2 sometime in the near future. I did have some trouble creating this video when I published it. I noticed a slight corruption in the video. It seems more jerky than my other videos that I have posted. I had to cut and trim the clips in Movie Maker and I ended up with about 10 or more instead of the usual 4 or 5 clips in the other videos that I have done.
