V.B.S.E. Mk.1
A 1:1 scale model of a 10Hp steam engine. Yes full size. Runs like a charm on a shop air compressor. You do need to put the compressor outside because it will run almost continuously. A boiler is a bit too difficult when you go this big. But you get the idea. Set up in my shop come in and have a look and if you want you can buy a baby one. Anyone got any giant Meccano? filmed with a Gopro and a Pentax.

  • Nice engine! Wath's the stoke's piston measure? Have you try to use steam instead of compressed air? Oh... and do you know how much power can it take? Tkx and nice job!

  • @StirlingEngine123

    145mm stroke and 100mm bore.

I have not run it on steam.....yet.

A boiler big enough would be very costly and require a mountain of safety regulations

and in Australia you need a boiler operators license to operate some thing like that.

    (Read lots of red tape)

Air works well enough for now and it is clean and safe.

  • Just Used Google to convert this video to 3D, the effect is reasonable.
