weird, this song sounds different the way the pianist is playing it, ive heard other recordings of this a little slower and it sounds much better

About 180 BPM at 0:50. #winning

how can you compare this to biret?
technically speaking, this is in a different league
It's a shame he only recorded no 1,2,3,6,7.Would have loved to hear nr 4 and 5
I find this one even better than that of the Brahms doyen,Julius Katchen

I find the best version is by Idil Biret

That's an amazing version and I like Kissin very much, but still, Cziffra is my favourite on this piece :)

Hey rvn10rvn17: check out walter Nikisch...from a Welte-Mignon piano roll, but, if un-doctored, an amazing rendition; not same tempo, but sounds like 4 hands - I dont think it is though. watch?v=Mwd0H0uHqIk

Yeah, this is how this should be played! Awesome!
@Skirtos I agree that technically it is. At first I liked biret more but now I hear this and I go back to hers and it sounds dragging... but then I find this too rushed. Anyway this version is way more exciting and my favorite of the two after comparing them. I just find it a little too fast

@Jlan0151738 i respect biret a lot but i heard her hungarian dance no. 5 and in my taste, it was awful..
there was a recording here once by planytv but now it's gone..
i agree with you, this might be a little too fast.. if kissin can slow down by 5%, it'll be perfect
