Virginia Tech Half-time Commercial (2008)

Virginia Tech is one of the nations leading educational institutions and research universities. In 2008, Virginia Tech rose 12 places on the National Science Foundation's ranking of 2007 research expenditures. Virginia Tech ranked 42nd on this list with over $366.9 Million in research expenditures.

Virginia Tech isn't only a world class university and research intiution, but is also a major driver of the local high-tech economy of Montgomery County, Blacksburg and Christiansburg. The Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center (VTCRC) is located adacent to the main campus and was incorporated by the Virginia Tech Foundation in 1985. The VTCRC is a research/business park that is home to over 140 high-tech companies and research centers which collectively employ more than 2,000 workers. There are plans currently underway that will expectably double the park over the next twenty years.
