Test Driving my Epiphone Les Paul Custom

My improvisation in the key of Am using the dorian,blues and minor pentatonic. Needs a bit work on the phrasing. Just recieved my new Epi LP this week and I was just messing about with it.

Yes, fippy you can take the pick guard off for a more solid rock look. But it will leave two screw holes on the body .

I was thinkin about getting a ephiphone les paul 100 with either a line 6 spyder or a marshall amp. My budget is 500$ so i guess I have some room cause at first I was going to get a strat but then I saw the ovation and was like OMG I need that then, I see the ephiphone les paul and was like DAMN I need that. so any suggestions on a good guitar set up for less that $500?
