A common technique for bass on the B3 is to use your left hand and accent the note, with a tap on the bass pedal. It adds a punch to the bass. The bass note doesn't have to be the same as the note played. It is like a bass drum. Joey will switch to pedals only when using his left hand to change the drawbars or Leslie etc.
