Schoolgirls attacked with acid in Afghanistan - 12 Nov 08

A group of girls determined to receive an education have been scarred for life in southern Afghanistan.

They were walking to school in Kandahar when battery acid was thrown into their faces by two men. Three of the girls are now in hospital with serious burns.

Al Jazeera's David Chater reports.

Most of afghan men are like animals that treat their women like some property and animals. for ex: my father.. im glad my mom left that asshole and we have a great life. sometimes when i tell some other afghan men that when i get married im gonna help my wife out even do some dishes or cook.. and they laugh at me like im a not a man..

@xxxBakeneckoxxx Those laws were probably given to make people think twice about rape and slavery... If a man did not want the commitment of a wife or a relationship, he was not supposed to rape either, or he would end up having to commit to a relationship. As to the slave thing, I've never clearly understood all the ins and outs of slavery, but there are probably the same undertones - think twice before selling your daughters as slaves. Thanks for bringing those to my attention

In the Christian bible, it says that it's completely ok for a man to sell his own daughters into slavery, and that it's ok to rape a woman as long as you marry her. So yes, Islam is formed in patriarchy, but so is every religion. It's all harmful and wrong, in my opinion. Religion has no place in the world anymore.
