As part of their Censored season in February 1999, Channel 4 aired Evil Dead 2 with an introduction by UK film critic Mark Kermode. Here, Kermode details the first Evil Dead's battles with the BBFC as well as the sequel's brief cuts. Note that although Kermode claims Channel 4 are about to air the censored version of Evil Dead 2, they actually wound up showing it uncut - naughty!

  • I remember this well. As a teenager I sat up watching Kermode introduce such films as this, Zombie Flesh Eaters and Braindead. 10 whole years ago! This is when Channel 4 was the best channel on TV and wasn't infested by the endless cookery shows and reloaction progormmes it is now.

  • Wow! I remember this being broadcast... there's something surreally chilling in his expression that makes you listen to every single word he says. Amazing.

You wouldn't happen to have his intro to The Exorcist, would you?

Thank you for uploading this! :)

  • I never knew Mark Kermode did an introdution to Evil Dead 2. Groovy! One of my favorite horror flicks.

  • They need to do this again on Channel 4 - it was an amazing season of film, a real event.

  • I hate to say this, but I don't particularly enjoy the Evil Dead series that much. I mean, it's COOL, and it's fun, and it's great, but I don't see it the way I feel Evil Dead SHOULD be. I imagine it slightly more like Braindead (Dead Alive), but I feel like the "cool zombie gore film" still has yet to be perfected. I feel like all "cool" and "cult" movies fail to deliver on those ends. Most bad good movies are somewhat boring, and most "cool" movies are dull half the time.

  • @badboykilla If any more of them are on YouTube, I'd love to see them!

  • That whole weekend pretty much changed my life. That discussion with Mariella Frostrup was fantastic. Someone needs to upload Kermode's Zombie Flesh Eaters intro. What a great film that is! Absolutely topnotch trash.

  • Even the BBC showed this film in the early 2000s, that's when i first saw it when i was around 12/13.

  • @badboykilla OH, totally! They were easily the best and more risk taking channel on tv. And you forgot the infestation of Big Brother!

  • Ottinger0980, like formerhuman I just to say thanks too as also since I first saw this back in 1999, i wanted to know what turn it was. Thanks again bud

  • @ottinger0980 THANKYOU this has been bugging me for a decade! I could KISS you.
