Comparing An Octane and PC is like comparing .. I don't know a family car with a fighter jet or so... :)

@kamilm122 mainly because 90% of the people have PCs? and the majority of people don't have a SGI computer? also because SGI target market is too specific eg. Engineering, Science... the general public like normal people can't use it to run Microsoft Word, Excel... Its a combo of the poor target market, marketing of the product(have you seen adverts for it?), how limited IRIX is... (only for rendering), it just doesn't fill any niche market, because its not doing anything other computers can't.

so... if irix OS is soooooo great for grahics rendering and opengl works on it much greater than on linux WHY THE HELL GAME DEVELOPERS DON'T WRITE AMES ON IRIX HUH?

That they do! I have two one with dual 300 mhz cpu's other dual 460 mhz cpu's Got an older ZX10 running win2k dual 900 Mhz and it renders fast as hell in Maya or Poser!
