Dundalk's New Water Fountain

The new fountain at the new renovated square will provide a fully automated and programmable water display of 25 individual nozzles giving a limitless range of water jet and lighting effects.

Produced in Ireland, using the highest quality materials, the system can be sequenced to create a dazzling range of displays. During peak periods, such as lunchtime, early evenings and weekends, the fountain will be programmed to take on an interactive show function, with a range of alternating jet heights and colour combinations. Specific colour themes will be programmed for calendar events, for instance, red and white for Christmas; green for St Patrick's Day and yellow at Easter.

It will also be possible to synchronise the water and light display with any performance that may be happening in the new-look Market Square, such as live music or dance events. During other prescribed times, the entire system can be shut down to allow uninterrupted use of the Square for larger events such as concerts or market trading.

The fountain is complemented by other features of the Market Square scheme that include traffic calming and an improved environment for pedestrians; restoration of the Tain sculptures and their relocation in purpose-built displays within the Square; creation of a performance and outdoor eating area to the side of the Town Centre Commercial Manager's office with provision for an outdoor media screen; the recently completed restoration of the Maid of Erin monument; a defined market area; new tree planting and improved seating and lighting.

I have loads of videos of the night they first turned on the fountain... It's really nice I'm glad someone is trying to make Dundalk a better place for everybody ! :)
