Fundamentalists have their own way of interpreting the Bible that is different from other Christians. They take a narrow literal view of what is written and fervently believe that they are the only ones who have it right. One cult of fundamentalists is the Seventh Day Adventists. Because of the popularity of the Mayan calendar apparent prediction that the world ends this year, the BBC asked (in their program Big Question) whether now is the time to repent and who better to ask than a Church who believes the end is coming. The Seventh Day Adventists no longer predict a particular year but do think it is coming soon. Non Fundamentalists will probably find this video extract amusing. I did.
As I have grown up in a 'christian' culture, and am familiar with the language that the guy in the video was using, I have become a little disensitised to the utter insantity of what he is actually saying. Imagine that he said; 'And soon the earth below us will split open, and the great horned monster of the deep will arise, and build his kingdom on the top of Everest. The earthquakes are a sign of his early stirrings....etc." We would ALL laugh, or get the guy to a mental hospital.
