@krislyttle There is always a cost, its equivalent exchange, to obtain, something of equal value must be surrendered. Everything in energy requires something else in return, we just give up something for something else, its a compromise. Its like organs for medical experiments and saving lives, they're great yes, but they require the death or reduction in biological abilities to obtain. You can have clean water or the energy with gasification, but not both.

This all sounds good, but my concern is the amount of water (I'm assuming fresh water) that's needed for this process to work properly. Just like energy, fresh drinking water is a valuable commodity.
