Having talked to one of the elites who was racing in this race, it was known that GBTri told Wiltshire to 'Rough up gomez'.

You lot are all over reacting! Stuff like this goes on all the time but just because Gomez was involved and i was a british athlete they react like this with a 6 month ban! His Olympic dreams are dashed, you all need to chill out its not a big deal!

Thi stype of thing happens all the time in competitive triathlon swims. i think a 6 month penalty is very harse. It will be interesting to see if they are consistant with their rulings in future.

They punished Wiltshire, however he seemingly did this to help some of his teammates that placed well and were not punished.

Shocking behaviour!! Clearly someone who is out to stop an opponent in an illegal fashion should be punished more severely. Pathetic behaviour from a guy who clearly cannot compete at Gomez level.

Pretty poor from Wiltshire. I am British and sad to see this kind of behaviour. I know Gomez is a great sportsman and I'm sure he won't hold it against the rest of the GB guys just because 1 guy acts so pathetically.
Glad to see him banned, hope he learns something from it, and realizes he makes the British team as a whole look bad.

Wiltshire has straight over recovery arms, Gomez was swimming too slow, Wiltshire breaths to his left and would not have seen Gomez drift across would Wiltshire risk severe shoulder injury swimming over another swimmer. On exit Gomez put himself in that position behind Wiltshire - observe the video Gomez was swimming on Wiltshire's right and enters behind him and on his left. who was that with his head in my behind getting out of the water? so has Wiltshire got eyes in the back of his head.
