The 1,000-seat auditorium of Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree was nearly filled for the inauguration of Dr. Carmen Mariano, the school's first president. Cardinal Sean O'Malley led the ceremony, which took place five months after Mariano began work as president. Mariano, a 1964 graduate of the high school, was an assistant superintendent in Quincy from 2001 to 2007.
