As soon as the weather gets nice, the black flies hatch and try to devour us. Defend yourself with a bugsuit or deet!

Depending on the particular pest species, you do not need to have super clean water. Pretty clean water, yes. Pennsylvania operates the largest black fly suppression program in North America. If it didn't, the "black fly season" in PA would run from late April to late October or later if it stays a little warm thru the fall.
