Hawk Sky wing failure at 550' leading to a spiral of death into the ground! The right wing tore from the aircraft. I would not recommend buying one of these for FPV as post mortem inspections revealed that there was very little glue on the bottom "spar cover" that came already assembled in the box. Speed control has also done some strange things. You will see this during the video by listening to the sound. The throttle was left on full and you can hear the motor rpm drop and surge greatly on its own. The stock motor is slightly under powered for FPV.

  • lol I had that ALMOST happen once. I luckily caught it and landed, re-glued them back in and put extra tape over it. Stock glued things like this should be ripped apart and glued properly. You really would trust all your FPV stuff on a $120 RTF plane without making sure simple seals are glued properly?

Cut some wire hangars and tape them along the nose cone if you plan on crashing... they absorb a lot of the kinetic energy when they bend with the foam

    (less damage when you hit)

  • @chatch15117 Well I did "trust all my FPV stuff in a $120 RTF plane without making sure simple seals are glued properly"!!!!! Lesson learned though so all others learn from my mistake and re-glue all chinese glue joints!

  • I was using a stock 72mhz Futaba 9c.

  • what for fpv stuff where you using(camera, tx, rx). and what is your max range?thanxx!

  • @goofydead3 WDR600 OSD Camera, DPCAV 900MHz 500mW tranmitter, Eagle Eyes ground station with a patch and dipole antenna on pan/tilt servos. I have flown 3,300 feet away at 1,500 feet AGL before I got chicken and headed back. I dont trust the stock speed control as it has done some weird things. Once I get my return to home setup and a new speed control I will test her range.

  • @WestValleyHeliFlyer

tanks for your replay! where you happy with your hawk sky (price/quality ratio?)? and where you using the original tx ?

  • @goofydead3 I did not use the stock transmitter or reciever. Before I baught mine I saw a guy flying one with the entire stock setup. It flew fine as he was doing loops and rolls etc. At $99 from nitroplanes I would say it is a fair value if you intend to use the entire stock setup. My stock speed control cut out on its own a few times(with fresh lipos) so I replaced it. The servos did not strip even in this crash! All in all while I would not buy another one I would say it was just fair.

  • do you think its the company or the plane brand that caused this?

  • What radio system where you using?

  • you should have used magnets to hold the wings together.

  • O man that's a bummer. I hope you were able to salvage the rest of the electronics and FPV gear.
