  • This video means SO much to me, I just LOVE this song, it's simple yet perfect. And Karen, what an AMAZING, once in a Lifetime Voice. I will ALWAYS MISS HER! I'm thankful for the Legacy that She and Richard have left to us. Never have I heard a voice like Karens, SO rich and warm, she FELT what she sang and the listener FELT it too! Thanks again Florcha for sharing this beautiful video with us!! Mark

  • This song is like, hauntingly beautiful.

  • This segment, re-recorded in 1980 is far superior to her attempt in 1969.

  • Truthfully, both versions of "Someday" are supreme (the 1969 version and this medley version from 1980). THE DIFFERENCE IS THIS: The 1969 version is from a young Karen Carpenter who's truly making a heartfelt promise to you, but the 1980 version is from a woman who (in all honesty) literally sounds like she's grieving and wanting YOU to promise her.

I'm NOT saying that she matured, I'm saying that you can hear her putting a darker spin to the words.

  • This version is from the 1980 Medley on the CD "The Essentail Collection" If you watch The Bacharach/David Medley from Australia, here on youtube (there are a few versions) it contains some of the songs from the CD. The song before this is "Make It Easy On Yourself" and after this song, it ends with "We've Only Just BegunO

  • @Boltfiger you hear that christina? and whitney? and mariah? and aretha? and most of the contestants on "american idol"?

  • @jazztenor71 they sound like angels I love the choir, is that choir still around?

  • @deutche1978 DEFINATELY!

  • Her voice, it just sounds so natural. And her singing and phrasing sounds so sincere and yet her voice doesn't over power the message of the song like so many female diva singers today who belt out these ballads and overpower the rest of the song. We know they can sing, but they don't have to go crazy with their voices. . . Watch Christina Aguilera's Star Spangled Banner in the last superbowl....too much....too much...

  • @steveatl40 yah, i was gonna say....her voice sounds much more refined and beautiful in this version. sweeter too. absolute perfection.

  • Beautiful early Carpenters song .. not sure what first part of video was all about

  • Just perfect: a beautiful song, a beautiful voice, flawless interpretation and arrangement. Karen's voice reaches my guts and my soul. And this is version is really better than the one recorded in 1969, however it doesn't contain the whole lyric because it was recorded for a medley. I wonder if she has recorded the full song in this session. Thank you for uploading this!
