This is certainly not a movie that upholds "brown pride". I remember when this movie came out when I was in high school, and the cholas in the class loved this movie. What I always found amusing about gangs is that they fight and kill each other over neighborhoods that some invisible white guy with a yacht in the Bahamas owns. Cholas were pathetic then and now. The names they took never ceased to amuse me. And Latino myself just for the record.
