If humans die, chimps will be like that "soon" or later if they start to use our things from some reason, like human made tools, knifes, electric devices etc.. and living in buildings, even if they would just use knife and fire to make food their jaw muscles and bone would get weaker and that would give some space for brains what can't at least make them more stupid :D then wait for a mutation and this is planet of the apes O_o unless if they fail with that and doesn't invent art, music etc..
