When performing at a marathon, Taiko troupes generally do substitute drummers. Makoto taiko played for three hours straight during the LA Marathon, substituting drummers every 25-30 minutes.

@Prepoceros Their power drumming you can tell in the drumstick holding technique which up's your endurance to do this by about 200%

They were only one of numerous groups who performed. They performed for perhaps 30-60 min.

i guess my arms would fall off if i had to hit the drums for such a long time with such a power...
they are just great, i love that video!! i've been to japan before but i will go there at least one more time for sure only for seeing a taiko performance live!!

@MmeSusann They definitely performed for at least 30 min. The time span between the first and last digital photo I took of them was about 30 min. I don't think they would bring all those drums to perform for any shorter length of time. I think they switched places and took breaks between songs. I don't they ever performed again at this marathon. I never saw them again (as of Feb. 2010).
