Well, until now I have seen the new series and some episodes with the first and the fourth Doctor and actually they all have their own "charm". Every actor portrayed the Doctor in an unique way. At least it is very subjective which one was the best Doctor and it also depends on when you yourself became addicted to the show - for most of us "our first Doctor" will always be our favourite I guess.

@andreatassio If I could just give my not polarized opinion on this: I feel that David Tenant is probably the superior actor/doctor, but Matt Smith has much better written seasons. Just my opinion though.
