I like how you don't even see his supporters. They threw him under the bus.
The religulous have no integrity or loyalty.

i would beat the piss right out of that fuck if he touched my child like that.

How would he treat one of his students if he/she were Jewish?

I wonder if he had a Koran and pushed Islamic faith on his students, or if he had a SATANIC bible, if those calling for his "free exercise of religion" would be singing a different tune. A teacher holds a special position in the classroom and it should not be used to inculcate students into any given faith. But the teacher in this case was a wignut who burned crosses into the flesh of students and he should not be allowed near a classroom.

Banning and/or promoting any religion is against the 1st amendment... Period...

Banning religion in any form is a direct violation of the 1st amendment... Period...

@dex1391 Pally vs Board of Education (1982). "The school has the right to have any religious text banned from the classroom if the book is used as a device to promote a religion."
Freshwater was clearly using the Bible to promote his religious viewpoint, and the school system therefore has the right to ban it's presence under the 1st Amendment.

Actually no.. They don't have the right to ban the bible... That is not true...

Speaking as someone from the Mount Vernon school district, I'm not offended by John Freshwater having his personal Bible sitting on his classroom desk. Why should Freshwater be forced to hide a symbol of his faith?
The first amendment says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...". The actions of the school to require him to remove the Bible from his desk is an unnecessary intrusion into his religious freedoms.

Teachers are agents of the STATE and so his "freedom" ends at the classroom door just like your freedom ends at your place of employment's door.

does it matter if it was a cross or something else - should a teacher be making any kind of mark on a student? They fire teachers for hugs so I don't see the difference.
