http://www.opamerica.com Presenting a Robot Lilliput reproduction wind-up toy from Schilling Toys. The item is brank new. Arms move as it walks. Note that the walking action is more sophisticated than the smaller version seen on other Ebay listings. Measeures 8 3/4" inches tall. The toy easily winds up an walks forward. I did notice a small scratch on the cheek. Otherwise, in great condition! Comes with original retro box.

As most robot and space toy collectors know, the original Robot Lilliput is a great example of early robot toys. The book Vintage Toys: Robots and Space Toys states the following:

"For every collectible genre, there is a first - and for robots, this is believed to be IT. No matter whose opinion is solicited, most contemporary robot collectors consider Robot Lilliput, by an unknown Japanesse manufacturer, to be the earliest known toy automation. Originally believed to be an early postwar product, the contemporary thinking about Lilliput now holds that it predates World War II. (Close examination of original packaging and other factors now point toward a circa 1939 release.) Standing six inches in height, Robot Lilliput is a mechanical wind-up who straight leg walks while swinging his arms. Lithographically crude by postwar standards, Lilliput features oversized rivets and large, hand drawn chest gauges complemented by a snaking hose from the robot's head to its 'heart.' The robot's block style head and expressionless gaze undoubtedly helped establish these now iconic robot features. Lilliput also boasts the inexplicable 'N.P. 5357' designation on its lower torso. Relatively affordable in good condition - suggesting solid sales during its original period of availability - examples with original packaging bring a steep premium. However numble when judged by postwar operational standards, Robot Lilliput nonetheless commands serious respect due to its seminal role in the establishment of the robot and space toy genre."

  • Cute. Check out my giant killer robot vid for the real deal.

  • Don't they sell dis at the wizarding world of harry potter?

  • i saw this toy at the comic book store...it was a Japanese toy and i was like OMG I MUST HAVE! i didn't get it but now seeing this i'm glad i didn't...

  • Reproduction tin toys suck, they don't work well like the originals.I have 163 Japanese tin Robots from the early 60's to early 70's and they all work flawlessly .

  • It's from a time long before computers and real robots. They were just fancying the idea of what a real robot would be like while we might fancy high speed transportation such as a Stargate or a space plane to to travel to the far corners of the world in just 1 hour. I know I'd love to be home regularly while working on the opposite side of the planet.

  • It doesn't matter
