he kind of invented it... alan gelfand invented the ollie on vert, but all it was was a air w/o a grab, he kind of just scooped his board around at the top of the tranny. Rodney was the first person to do a legit ollie on flatground, he was for sure the first to figure out how to really pop his board. He was definetly the first person to pop an ollie high enough to clear a deck.
what's the point of that? isn't the resounding motto of skateboarding it's individuality? although... i guess that was probably more true back then, when style still counted for something. but whatever... it's your board, do you what you want!
