Sukhoi Su-15 (NATO reporting name 'Flagon') was a twin-engine interceptor aircraft developed by the Soviet Union in the 1960s to replace the Sukhoi Su-11.
As one of the V-PVO's principal interceptors, the Su-15 was involved in a number of incidents with foreign aircraft. One such attack was in 1978, when Korean Air Flight 902 was attacked over Murmansk by a PVO Su-15. Although the civilian aircraft survived the missile hit, two passengers were killed, and the damaged plane subsequently made a forced landing on a frozen lake. In 1981 a Baku, Azerbaijan-based Su-15 deliberately rammed an Iranian Canadair CL-44 after it strayed into Soviet airspace. More notorious was the Korean Air Flight 007 incident in 1983, when a Korean Boeing 747 was shot down by a Su-15TM based on Sakhalin, killing all 246 passengers and 23 crew .

Although it was produced in large numbers (1,290 of all types), the Su-15, like other highly sensitive Soviet aircraft, was never exported to the Warsaw Pact or any other country. Some Su-15 were deployed in Egypt in 1972 but were used with Soviet crews.

In Russia, the Su-15 was abruptly retired in 1993 to comply with the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe. Most were hastily scrapped in favour of more advanced interceptors, including the Su-27 'Flanker' and MiG-31 'Foxhound.' In Ukraine, the last Su-15s (at Kramatorsk and Belbek) were withdrawn from use in 1996.

  • Greek SA-8 AntiAir System locks a Turkish F-4

  • hello brother. do you have infos or video for the OSA-AKM SA-8B SAM? here is a link for greek OSA-AKM locking a turkish F-4E terminator upraded with israel radar and EW systems which is unable to break the locking. do you beleive a osa-akm with 9m33m3 missiles can beat F-16C and F-4E? the system has multiple capabilities for dealing jamming like 2 radars and TV/LLLTV clos guidence. in libya they did not perform well but this maybe lack of good training?

  • This is one "lovely" video. =p

  • А в моём городе стоит Су-15 как памятник. 1200 машин было произведено. Круто..

  • @petros311 New design, its kinda similar to Hawk in some aspects as J22 Orao is similar to Jaguar. G4 was also used as very potent ground attack aircraft.... Unguided 57, 82, 128 and 260mm rockets, retarded bombs up to 250kg...and similar. They are still in Serbian inventory waiting modernisation.

  • @Militarija aha ok , thanks for the info, the G-4 was an upgrade of the G-2 or was a new design?

  • @petros311 G2...not G4...Soko Galeb G2.

  • @odzadze123 If iraqis had at ten years of war with Iran which includes airwar don't you think that would have enough experienced pilots and technical knowhow to at least put Americans in a stalemate in the air. Remember that Iraq sent 120 aircraft to Iran just before Gulf War I and Iranians never gave aircraft back. Also Russians only gave Iraqis minimal support during GW I which not much support. In the end Iraq left Kuwait but Bush and Cheney still laughing but not in hell when they die.

  • @petros311

Yes,Soviet used cheap materials for base e.g. in engines. But it's not Engine design fault.only materials.Today RD-33MK have service life of 4000Hours.

For Iraqi pilots,IQAF have their Elite scadrons,But in general they are Poor organised and most of other squadron Suffered from Poor trainings.Shocking is the fact

the Iraqi air defense, is not exercised Night shooting?

They have partial experience from the Iraq/Iran war time, but after that they dont Exercised Night shooting?

    Tragedy!
