Chicago Ravenswood Gangs: Seeley and Ainslie Gaylords

The Chicago Gaylord's of Ravenswood were a unique club: 1) They were largely made up of Southern Whites and Chippewa Indians; 2) They were one of the Gaylord Sections who refused to join the People Alliance, in the 1980's, due to the killing of two of their members by a People Nation gang. This left them to defend their turf minus any help with the exception of other Gaylord sets. This section was originally started by a merger of existing street gangs in the area, like the Maniac Drifters, Irish Clowns and the Basement Boys. Some of their rivals were the Latin Kings, Blazers, and the Simon city Royals. The Gaylord's in Ravenswood were 50 strong, and remained large well into the 90's.

Today, most to the gangs in the Ravenswood area are fast losing their turfs due to gentrification. The neighborhoods along the Brown Line (Ravenswood El) are among some of the best real Estate buys in the city.
