I just learned that Barry Altman, the guy who brought back the inspired C64 design just passed in December. Barry, you will be missed. http://www.zdnet.com/barry-altman-ceo... http://twitter.com/miklevin.

why would you want one?, why not the apple 2e?, atleast it had a floppy drive to start with, so im guessing it would have had more memory out of the box, i loved commodore, apple, and apple2e when they first came out, but then again i still have my atari system as well lol

Are you talking about original computers or retro re-issues. The Apple II design was just another all-in-one wedge that looked like Ataris, BBC Micro's and every other white wedge. The C64 deisgn is completely unique in the history of computers. It was also a quarter the price of Apple II and reached many more people—the best selling computer in history as a matter of fact. And the company making it also made the 6502 and 6510 chip that Apple, Atari and everyone else had to buy from.

Sadly yes, with the passing of Barry Altman, the driving force behind it, I think you are right.

That's a shame. It was a tidy little concept. I was going to purchase just for the clickety click keys. Nice unboxing.

I believe this is correct. Barry Altman, the driving force behind it passed last December, and I can no longer reach the commodoreusa d o t net site. Sad.
